File Manager App: Manage & View All Files On Your iPhone In One Place

iOS can handle a lot of file formats, and we don’t mean just the ones that have got their official apps by Apple (like photos, audio and videos). Through third-party apps you can open, and even edit, Office documents, PDFs, text/web files and ZIP archives. However, it is never convenient having to jump between different apps to view files belonging to distinct formats. Won’t it be nice if there was some way of making all the files get along, just like in your computer where everything can be placed in the same folder, irrespective of the file’s format? If you have a jailbroken iPhone or iPad, iFile is a Cydia app that serves this purpose to some extent. Fortunately, for those who are not fans of the Cydia store, there are options like File Manager App. This universal iOS app will let you view all your files in one place on your iDevice, and you can also use it to make a few changes to some data. File Manager App comes with Dropbox integration, and that makes it really easy to grab files from there. Not only that, you can easily transfer files to the app’s library via iTunes, directly from the web or from the camera roll of your iPhone.

Unless you use iTunes to transfer files to File Manager App, each file has to be downloaded to the app’sInbox manually. There are three ways of adding files to the Inbox in File Manager App.
  • Dropbox
  • Browser
  • Image Gallery
if you are using the app for the first time, you will need to link your Dropbox account with File Manager App before you can make use of that menu. Once the app has been authorized to access your Dropbox, you will be able to see an overall view of your account. You can navigate to any folder or file in from there, and any supported file can be downloaded by tapping it once and then hitting the download button.
The Browser within the app is a little crude, but serves the purpose of letting its users download any file format they find on the internet. If you have already got a download link, enter it in the browser’s address bar and hit the download button located to the left of it. Pictures that are already in your iPhone or iPad can be imported to the File Manager App by hitting the Image Gallery button from the Connections menu, which will take you to the Photos app in your device. The files that you import to Inbox can be sorted in any way you want, or you can create folders to save them separately. It is possible to rename files from the Edit menu, and the app will even let you ZIP or unarchive any bunch of files.
File Manager App has gone free for a limited time, and as it has the potential of bringing order and neatness to your iPhone or iPad, we recommend that you give it a shot by heading to the following link.
